London, Great Britain: There is no place for afternoon tea like at the Ritz in London. I came 25 years ago – and was really high on tea infusions, scones, clotted cream, jam and finger sandwiches. Coming back was as good, and the kids loved it.
If you are having difficulties getting a table reservation, it may be good to know that they nowadays serve tea from 11.30 until 19.30, so slots are obviously easier to get when it’s not really afternoon, but who cares? This is the high tea of most visitors lifes. Including us.
And the novelty of this year is the possibility of having a tea testing of quality teas, served with the usual tasty finger food and some highly interesting anecdotes from the history of tea. And this is made by the Ritz’ tea master Giandomenico Scanu himself. Superb.
Elias, 10, has a sweet tooth and really had a fiesta at the Ritz. When I asked him if he was going to throw up in the night, knowing the tremendous amount of sweet cakes and pastries he had managed to squeeze into that tiny body, he laughed and admitted that he wasn’t too sure…but no problem. He was fine and slept all night, dreaming of the chocolat fondant from the Ritz:) #theritzlondon #lottiesworld #afternoontea #visitbritain #lovegreatbritainse
